Spoken through the stories, images, and experiences of young adults Homeless Youth: Finding Home provides insight into systemic failures, family breakdown, and other issues at the root of youth homelessness. The reflections of these young Minnesotans from a variety of backgrounds also exemplifies growing network of support systems, the healing power of culture and identity, and other glimmers of hope for ending homelessness. Homeless Veterans CNN
Although accurate numbers are impossible to come by -- no one keeps national records on homeless veterans -- the VA estimates that 200,00 veterans are homeless on any given night. And approximately twice that many experience homelessness over the course of a year. Conservatively, one out of every three homeless men who is sleeping in a doorway, alley or box in our cities and rural communities has put on a uniform and served this country. According to the National Survey of Homeless Assistance Providers and Clients (U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Urban Institute, 1999), veterans account for 23 percent of all homeless people in America

National Coalition for the Homeless
The National Coalition for the Homeless, founded in 1982, is a national network of people who are currently experiencing or who have experienced homelessness, activists and advocates, community-based and faith-based service providers, and others committed to a single mission. That mission, our common bond, is to end homelessness. We are committed to creating the systemic and attitudinal changes necessary to prevent and end homelessness. At the same time, we work to meet the immediate needs of people who are currently experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of doing so. We take as our first principle of practice that people who are currently experiencing homelessness or have formerly experienced homelessness must be actively involved in all of our work.

GW Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week 2010
Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week began in 1972 when a group of students at Villanova University organized a coordinated week of activities to educate the campus community, increase community service, and build campus and community relations. Held every year the week before Thanksgiving, more than 500 campuses and communities organize and participate in several unique, educational events, including fasts and sleep outs, community service events, community dinners and hunger banquets, and fundraising and food drives.
At the George Washington University, the Office of Community Service partners with the Human Services Program to plan a week of activities designed to challenge the GW community to confront the issues of poverty from a local, national, and global perspective. Professor Peter Konwerski's students work in groups and each form committees around a different aspect of the week, including a food drive, Help the Homeless Walkathon, poetry slam, and hunger banquet.
