Charter Schools: Changing Lives
n Chicago, one out of two public high school students fails to graduate each year. High school dropouts face a difficult road, to put it mildly. Statistics show that dropouts are more likely to serve time in prison than earn $30,000 a year. Chicago's public schools, in short, are failing, and the consequences are dire.
Charter schools--a new kind of public school--have begun to reverse this trend.

School principal brings peace to inner city children via Transcendental Meditation
My name is George Rutherford, I have been in education for 45 years. I have been a principle for 35. I have tried every program that has been put out by the federal government to improve students, academic performance, to reduce violence, to eradicate drugs. Non of those programs did what they thought it would do. The one program, the Transcendental Meditation program is a program that will do all of it and more. Our kids are able to focus better and we are able to develop brighter students because of the Transcendental Meditation. The Transcendental Meditation will help relieve them of the stress that they bring into the school and therefore that will help them to focus better in their classes.

Watoto From The Nile - Positive Hustle (Message to Rick Rozay and P.Diddy) OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO
The long awaited follow up to "Letter to Lil Wayne" is finally here for all to see. Watoto From The Nile closely examines the word "hustle" and criticizes Rick Rozay, P.Diddy, and others who claim to represent the masses of Black people to be more critical of their roles in the media. Often, the term "hustle" is used in a negative light to describe the act of selling drugs or doing some other illegal activity to hinder the growth of a community, while simultaneously growing finances for the so called "hustler". Now we take a look at the POSITIVE HUSTLE which represents life giving energy! It is all about love and building up one another daily. It is okay to make money but it is NOT OKAY to kill your people in the process. Support Watoto From The Nile's BRAND NEW ALBUM at www.mywatotofromthenile.com.

What Makes Great Teachers Great?
Research out of the US indicates there are characteristics that can predict whether a teacher will be a great teacher before they even get in the classroom. And that's important when other studies show the teacher is one of the most crucial factors in your child's school success. A poor teacher can set your child back forever; a great teacher inspires them forever. Our panel will talk about the difference between the good and great teachers out there.

The Pros & Cons of Labelling Children
The panel discusses what happens when we label kids. In the education system, it is necessary to identify a child as special needs before he or she can get help. But once the child is identified as gifted or dyslexic, how does that affect that child's outcomes? And what about the less clinical labelling that happens - when kids are identified as anxious or artistic or sporty or disruptive or shy? How do these labels affect children's perceptions of themselves, and the school's expectations of them?

Student Debt: Denying the American Dream
Over the past 20 years, federal investment in higher education has decreased significantly. The maximum Pell Grant award used to cover over 60% of the average tuition and fees. Today, the average award covers just 33% of those cost. Student loans, both federal and private, represent a much greater percentage of a student's financial aid package. In the past year alone, we have seen the largest cuts in the history of the student loan program, totaling $12.7 billion and the average Pell Grant award has decreased approximately $120.
